FEELINGS ARE OUR SUPERPOWER
I got a SURGE of energy to write this post for you. I want to invite you into part of my daily practice and how I help my body/mind shift from a place of fear and negativity to a place of groundedness and trust <3
As I write this post, I can feel frustration creep in. I was about to post this blog last night when there was glitch and everything I wrote got deleted. So here I am having to rewrite it. BUT there’s always medicine in the present moment, so let’s take a step back from this emotion and get present. First things first, let’s understand what an emotion is, an emotion is just energy in motion. It is triggered by an event or thought that manifests in the body/mind as a reaction/response. Since an emotion is just energy and we know that energy cannot be created or destroyed only transformed, let’s alchemize it!
FEELINGS ARE OUR SUPERPOWER
Everything is dictated by our feelings, everything we attract is based on how we feel; the good, the bad, the scary, the soul-filling. So how can we turn to feeling good over and over again so it becomes second nature, our true automatic response? First step is to get grounded. We want to be able to recognize the difference between what our ego is telling us and what our soul wants us to hear, and being grounded is the first step into creating this discernment. It’s not easy but the more we can get grounded and lean into our true self, the easier it becomes.
So let’s…
GET GROUNDED
What does this even mean, “Grounded”? It’s a word that gets tossed around sooo much but what does being grounded actually feel like and why is this the way to transforming our negative emotions? Being grounded in the present moment means to be fully embodied. You are so f*in present in your body nothing else is consuming you. You aren’t thinking about what you need to do next, you aren’t thinking about all the time you wasted on writing that email, the work looming over you, yesterday’s woes. You are feeling uber present and you feel ALIVE. It is embracing each part of yourself and releasing out of what no longer serves you in that very moment. So, what are some ways to get grounded?
1. Get out in nature. Sure, that’s great advice, but nature isn’t going to be an elixir if we aren’t present in the moments that we are surrounded by Her. So let’s get present. The 5-4-3-2-1 method is a great way to start.
Start by focusing your energy on what you see, name (5) things around you, without judging or questioning. Just stating the facts. Now identify (4) things you can feel. Feet on the ground, clothing touching the skin, arm resting by your side, the breath moving in and out of your body. Now close your eyes, identify (3) things you hear, lean into those sounds. Let the sounds be the only thing your body absorbs. It can be hard, I know. But let’s try. These are muscles that get stronger the more we use them. Now name (2) things you can smell, the leaves, your perfume, wood fire burning in the distance, and lastly (1) thing you can taste.
2. Move your body. Feel into your body, your body has wisdom beyond its physical years. We need to reconnect the body/mind/soul. This requires our attention and focus, if you have a certain area of the body that’s bringing up pain or discomfort or if you have a fear-based thought, ask that part of your body/thought: what do you need me to know? what can I do to support you in this discomfort? And listen. Wait and listen to see. Trust that the body will help navigate you in the direction that can help move the energy. We are too focused on what we “should” be doing to move the body that we neglect or ignore what it actually needs. It could be walking, it could be dancing, it could be shaking it out it, it could be as simple as a hug. You are your biggest ally, trust that you can navigate any discomfort to get back into feeling good.
3. Turn to gratitude. List out 5 things that you are grateful for. Sure, it's one thing to list the obvious (home, family, friends) but when we can get specific and list out WHY we are grateful for each one, that is where the true magic happens. Shifting your energy to gratitude can amplify these feelings and even welcome in more of these same blessings (aka manifesting 😉).

If we can keep coming back to the present moment over and over again, shifting ourselves back to our true north, then that my friends is how we shift our emotions and start to feel into our soul. Our power lies in the present moment but our superpower is in how we feel, so let’s get feeling good!
P.S. After practicing these steps to shift my sticky emotions, I can confidently say that my frustration has now been transmuted into gratitude :)
